Selecting Several Cards
When you want to move, re-context or delete a whole group of cards, select them together and act on all of them in one step. This works on the board, including a project’s Lists view.
Select cards on iPad and iPhone
Section titled “Select cards on iPad and iPhone”A tap on a card normally opens its details. To select several cards, switch to selection mode:
- Touch and hold a card and choose Select Cards…. Selection mode starts with this card selected.
- Tap more cards. Each tap selects or deselects a card; selected cards show a check mark on the left. In selection mode a tap never opens the details.
- The bar at the top shows how many cards are selected, for example “3 selected”.
To take a whole list, open the list’s menu (…) and choose Select Cards…: selection mode starts with all cards of that list in this column selected. While you are selecting, the same entry reads Select All in List.
Select cards on Mac
Section titled “Select cards on Mac”- ⌘-click a card to add it to the selection or remove it.
- ⇧-click a card to select the range from an already selected card to this one, within the same list.
- A plain click selects just that one card again.
With two or more cards selected, the inspector shows their number and the actions, plus Clear Selection. You can also right-click one of the selected cards.
Act on the selection
Section titled “Act on the selection”A bar at the bottom of the board offers three actions:
- Move: under Column choose Todo, Progress or Done; under List choose another list. Moving to Done completes all selected cards at once.
- Context: choose an @context to give all selected cards that context (it replaces the one they had), or No Context to remove it.
- Delete: iKanban asks “Delete 3 cards?” and removes them from Reminders only when you confirm with Delete. To cancel, tap Cancel; on iPad, tap anywhere outside the question.
On Mac the right-click menu and the inspector offer the same actions as Move to, Set Context and Delete Selected Cards….
Each card is saved on its own. Cards that were changed leave the selection. If some cards could not be saved, iKanban shows Some cards could not be changed with both numbers, and those cards stay selected so you can try again. When all cards succeed, selection mode ends by itself.
Leave selection mode
Section titled “Leave selection mode”- On iPad and iPhone: tap Done at the top.
- On Mac: click a card without a modifier key, or choose Clear Selection in the inspector.
- Switching to another view, such as the Inbox, or starting a search also ends selection mode without changing any card.
For moving a single card, you don’t need a selection: drag it, or use Move to in its menu. See The Board.
